GBG#3 CD celebrates Bailiwick music

The Guernsey Arts Commission’s Music Sub-Committee has once again teamed up with Twist Records to produce a compilation CD that takes a look at the music being produced in Guernsey today.

Across 29 tracks, spanning genres from hard rock and heavy metal to folk and chilled out electronic, the double CD collection acts as both an insight into what is going on in music today and as an archive document of Guernsey’s music scene in late 2011.

As well as regularly gigging bands such as Lifejacket, Dead Wing and The Halfday Fridays GBG#3 also features the likes of Darren Betts, Continuum and Southside Furry Animals who work more in the studio than the live environment.

Mark Le Gallez, the man behind Twist Records and a member of the Music Sub-Committee, said: “I am glad I put this record out as it is a time capsule of what is happening at the moment. There are some other bands I would have like to have included but at least we have a span of different generations which is something I really like.”

While Russ Fossey, the Guernsey Arts Commission’s commissioner for music, added: “Yet again this compilation highlights the quite extraordinary range of varied and diverse musical talent that Guernsey produces. Mark has done a fantastic job in bringing this together and the overall presentation of GBG#3 is excellent; great music and top quality presentation in terms of artwork, with photos and full details of all the bands and artists. Well done to Mark and all the artists who contributed.

GBG#3 is available now from both Kendall’s Guitars (in Charotterie) and Musique (near the Castel Church) for £10 and will be available online around the world soon as well.
