Brave Yesterday - Everything All At OnceJersey based five-piece Brave Yesterday have been busy building a reputation for their poppier end of indie rock for the past decade and, while they’ve been quieter on record the last couple of years, have been busy playing live but now they are back with four track EP Everything, All At Once.

Lead single My Vice starts things off with a tale of ‘a love at hurts’, to paraphrase the band’s Instagram post, that hooks the listener in with a surprisingly bluesy riff that is irresistible and brings to mind something of The Black Keys with a bit more of an indie feel.

Title track Everything, All At Once, brings a more straight forward rocky edge to proceedings, falling somewhere between the good bits of the back catalogues of Foo Fighters and Stereophonics, and having a genuine crossover pop rock sound that’s maybe not as obvious as you’d first think.

Belong continues in the same kind of way but adds in some more obvious keys and an angular edge that hints at math rock but without becoming too abstract or obscure before closer Give It A Rest adds a darker and more insistent edge but with a big chorus cutting through.

Production across the EP, I think handled by fellow Jerseyman Wilson Nash, is as slick and precise as you’d want for this kind of pop rock making for a set of songs any one of which I could hear being the young, new rock band on any mainstream radio playlist.

On top of all of this My Vice has been released as a stand alone single with proceeds from its first two months being donated to the local Salvation Army, so as well as getting some great pop rock you can give to a local cause as well.
