January 2020 playlist montageClick here to go straight to the Spotify playlist

A new year and so a new playlist begins but as ever I’ll add around ten tracks to it a month and post an update here – if you just want to listen to the tracks then head over to Spotify and give the playlist a follow, otherwise it’s embedded below.

This month has already been a packed one with new releases from Mura Masa with R.Y.C, Joe Corbin’s new EP Fool In Love and the debut self-titled EP from The Head Of Helier.

As well as that a track from Brunt’s latest album Ataraxy has appeared on Spotify so I’ve included it and I got round to having a listen to the debut album from The Gaa-Gaas.

Given the announcement of their first UK shows in the best part of a decade I’ve got some My Chemical Romance along with something from Hatebreed after a packed Electric Ballroom sang along to it to welcome back Rampage Brown at PROGRESS Wrestling’s hundredth chapter.

There’s an interesting take on Dead Kennedy’s Too Drunk To Fuck from Nouvelle Vague that I discovered thanks to Joe from The Recks and some vintage Deep Purple that stood out on rewatching Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

This month also saw the sad death of drummer and lyricist Neil Peart so I had to include some Rush and I’ll be honest there were so many tracks I could have chosen I went with one of the more direct favourites (and one that’s not too long) with Red Barchetta from Moving Pictures.

Anyway here’s the list and you can find the embedded version below that…

I would have included this one on the playlist too if there’d been a decent version on Spotify but, following his retirement at Wrestle Kingdom back on January 4th and 5th, I had to include the rather excellent theme music of Japanese wrestling legend Jushin Thunder Liger, with an accompanying tribute video…

Tim and Sydney Mixtape

Tim And Sydney Mixtape montageAs a bit of a bonus I also made a mixtape for Tim & Sydney on BBC Channel Islands this month so I’ve included that here too, again embedded below if you want to listen…
